Nicholas Millar was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 1982 (although he no longer practices there) and of the then Supreme Court of Hong Kong in 1987. Since qualifying in England he has worked for a variety of firms in both England and Hong Kong, always specialising in litigation.
Nicholas Millar holds the right of audience in the higher courts of England & Wales in civil proceedings and in 1997 qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
His extensive experience includes commercial disputes, construction and insurance claims together with more general common law claims. In latter years the bulk of his practice has been in personal injury and medical negligence claims, particularly the latter. He is a competent advocate and enjoys appearing before a variety of tribunals including Masters, District Court judges, High Court judges and arbitrators as well as, on occasion, statutory tribunals.
Nicholas Millar seeks to specialise in medical negligence (otherwise known as clinical negligence) claims. He has an especial interest in obstetric claims and has acted for several "brain damaged babies" (more properly known as people with cerebral palsy). He is also interested in brain and spinal cord injuries.
He is the immediate past chairman of the New Medico Legal Society of Hong Kong and is a member of various other organisations including APIL.
